Juliana Cardoso SmithPhD Student
Juliana Cardoso Smith was a pre-med student at Hunter College City of New York and graduated with a Psychology B.A. in 2012. Subsequently, she went to Queens College City of New York to pursue her Masters in Psychology and also taught as an Psychology Adjunct, graduating in 2013.While she was pursuing my Masters, she was also working in the Emergency Department at Bellevue Hospital/ NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City helping survivors of sexual assaults with their experiences in the Emergency Room. Broadly speaking, she is passionate about improving an individual's experience in the medical setting, especially in the Emergency Department. Currently, her research focuses on improving patients’ experiences and screening rates in a hospital setting, addressing topics such as HIV incidence/prevalence in the Latino population and HIV screening.
